Selection of Wood

1. Certainly, there exist diverse species of wood in the world that would serve to construct excellent instruments. Many of the violin making schools in the world instruct with the use of traditional woods already used anciently by the great masters.

2. Criterion for selection of Wood
The raw material is very important for the final result of an instrument, and it is the joining of the raw material that defines part of the sound and quality of the instrument. Because of this it is extremely recommended that before construction of an instrument, the maker understands the various reactions and effects caused by each material that composes an instrument. (glue, wood, varnish, etc.)

3. Basic principles of selection.
• The grain of the wood should be regular and straight.
• The cut should be perfect.
• No knots, cracks, or deposits of resin should be on the wood.

We accept commission of new instruments, baroque or modern. For new instruments, some details may be chosen, such as: color of varnish, manner of cut of the wood, accessories and others, depending on the model.

Duration time of construction
The time it takes to build a violin, viola, or cello is usually about 3 to 7 months. It can vary according to the number of requests already solicited.
